The Department of Curriculum Studies

...is one of three departments at the Faculty of Educational Studies at Uppsala University. In research and education several areas are covered within Didaktik, such as studies on teaching, learning and socialization, education for sustainable development, special needs education and different aspects of childhood and adolescent language practices.

Education

Didaktik is studied within general education studies in the teacher education program and can be studied up to a master’s degree. The department also offers courses for teachers in Physical Education, in Preschool and in Primary and Lower-Secondary School.

Master’s programmes

A Master’s programme (two years) is offered in Educational Sciences especially Didaktik, A Master’s programme (two years) in Education and Teaching, and a Master’s programme (one year) in Special Needs Education

Research

At the department there are two research milieus: Studies of Meaning-making in Educational Discourses (SMED »), and Studies of Language Practices (STOLP »), involving several researchers and doctoral students. The department is also involved in a research collaboration in Education for Sustainable Development (IRESD ») and hosts the Graduate school in Education and Sustainable Development (GRESD »).
